We really appreciate the wait and your patience. 8 months ago, we hit a roadblock with legal issues. Our whirlwind personal lives didn’t spare us time and energy to rebrand VF.

To kick start the brand new year, we finally decided to take action and relaunch our beloved fashion blog. With the help of my dear friend/tech-genius, Terence - Fash Eccentric! is finally up and running with new cool features:

Talk about publicity. Shortly after our publicity stint in 'URBAN', VF girls got a cease-and-desist letter from the Big Fish, Vogue magazine. Haha, we're just a small fish in the big fashion sea - and, we've to change our names to avoid Vogue chewing us up into bits.

So readers, VF girls are moving and rebranding our fash blog. We'll be back - bigger and flashier! And, we don't need another lawyer's letter. So sorry for the temporary hiatus. We're in the process of moving all our blog posts to the new site and closing this down.

Cannes Fashion Festival!

I keed, I keed... Cannes Film Festival 2007 (60th anniversary) is finally upon us and the opening movie is My Blueberry Nights starring Jude Law, Norah Jones, Natalie Portman, Rachel Weiz and more. The movie is directed by Wong Kar Wai (his first English debut) and I bring you the highlights of the red carpet and the opening.

What a vision! Kerry Washington, Gong Li and Andie MacDowell all look so lovely. I love Kerry's Jeweled one shoulder strap and Gong Li looks great in that shade of green and Andie is all grace.

Bai Ling - the Asian Paris Hilton? definitely makes a statement in a pink dress. However, the color is rather reminiscent of pepto bismol and does not suit her well. I'd love to see Bai Ling in a graceful dress that is sexy but not too over the top. I mean, I can dream, right?

Elisabeth Hurley is another one who loves to dress really sexy (remember her safety pin held dress by Versace?). But in this red number, on the red carpet, she looks stunning.

Diane Kruger - I'm guessing that she announced the movie as she is seen on stage with a mic here. She looks really demure and lovely in this white lace number with just the right amount of pink.

Juliette Binoche. Maybe it's the angle but the dress makes Juliette look very erm, rectangular? Doesn't show off her curves at all.

Jude Law and Norah Jones look really good together on the carpet. I wonder if that will translate into on screen chemistry. Are the flash bulbs that bright that Jude has to wear sunglasses? Nice classic Ray Bans by the way.

Maggie Cheung - I can't see the whole dress in this picture but the top half does not look good. But so good to see Maggie - she is a great actress.

Minnie Driver - Simple elegance!

Fashionista Diaries

When I used to work in Hollywood, It was the beginning of the reality TV show frenzy and my ex-boss used to say that our lives were so crazy (we did entertainment publicity for mostly hip hop artists and urban fashion clients) that we should have our own reality TV show. Her dreams migt not have come true but I think that this new reality TV series Fashionista Diaries will be a pretty good reflection of what went on behind the scenes in our lives back then.
According to TV Week,
"The Fashionista Diaries" will follow six new assistants as they try to put together a fashion show and after-party for New York's Fashion Week. They work for Flirt Cosmetics, Jane magazine and Seventh House PR (two at each) and will try not to get fired as the series goes on.

Fabsugar states that It will chronicle the lives of six fashion assistants given the not-so-glamorous task of putting together the fashion show and after party for Charlotte Ronson during last Fall's New York Fashion Week in September.

Awww, reminds me of the days where I used to have to work crazy hours, parley crazy requests of celebrities to other people, buy sandwiches or sushi as requested while trying to make everything look chic at the fashion shows. lol.

Charlotte Ronson's Spring 2007 collection seems pretty cute though, so I'm sure we will get to see fabulous clothes on the show. Check out her website.

I can't wait to watch this show (it will premiere in the U.S on Soapnet in July) to see how other fashionistas handle this! Fellow fashionistas, I will try to bring you recaps of the show, if I ever get to see it!

Angelina Jolie to appear in more ads for Shiseido

I feel like all I do nowadays is to announce which star is going to be endorsing which clothing line, beauty line, etc. Just goes to show - celebrity endorsement is not going away any time soon. But I am all Team Angelina Jolie, so I am all for her doing more promotional work for Shiseido.

According to this report Angelina will appear in 3 separate beauty campaigns (for powder and eye liner, apparently). The campaigns are said to appear only in Japan, so sorry to you folks who don't live in Japan (moi, included) but I will be sure to bring you more pictures when they are out!

For now, you will have to suffice with a video of Angelina promoting for Shiseido's Integrate line of cosmetics. She looks fab in that lip gloss. Now I want some, haha.

Fanny Packs - making a comeback?

Remember when you were growing up in the 80's, the fanny pack was everywhere? People used it as a bag to carry things while working out or just everyday use really and even today, it can still be seen on the hips of Hawkers in Singapore.

Even as a child with no fashion sense, I abhorred fanny packs - they were just utilitarian pieces made of nylon and zips, with no nods towards style. So, when I read this article in the New York Times A New Attitude for the Hip I was surprised and somewhat impressed. I did further research and found Fannypack.com which states that "the fashion iconoclast" is back".

First, I will show you some pictures that the NYT article showed - Fanny packs made with chic new shapes and some proper styling.

The above fanny pack is called the "Ammo Pack" from the line Number (N)ine by Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita. I really liked the earth tones of the washed leather and the fact that it looks nothing like a typical fanny pack.

The above neon version is from Kris Van Assche. I think this version is perhaps a brighter nod to the old Fanny Pack and rather spoils the look of the whole suit. Not feeling this one at all.

Philip Lim shines with this belt clutch version of the fanny pack. I can see myself rocking this while out clubbing!

The above oversized coin purse version of a fanny pack is a creation by Alice Roi. NYT reports that the oversize coin purses were inspired by the notion of a chic French thief. I love that!! Alice Roi also stated to NYT that “I never saw the point of carrying around a 500-pound bag,” she said. “Technology has gone hands-free. Why not baggage?” True, true.

And here are some fanny packs from fannypack.com. I definitely can see that these bags are a step up - looks well made, chic yet functional! Oh and Fannypack.com states that the bags are constructed in strict compliance with fair trade standards for a hands free world that is a little more humanitarian. Indeed.

Twenty8Twelve by s. miller

It's not Kate. It's not Lily. It's Twenty8Twelve by Sienna Miller.

Every celebrity wants a piece of the fashion pie by creating their own line. However, style insiders has it that this collection is worth the wait. Unveiling on Aug 1, Twenty8Twelve is a unique collaboration between Sienna Miller and her designer sister, Savannah who was trained at the prestigious, Central Saint Martins for four years.

Twenty8Twelve (creatively named after Sienna's birthdate), is backed by Carlos Ortega (founder of Pepe Jeans). According to WWD, their debut Autumn/Winter '07 collection, comprises of empire line smock dresses, skinny jeans, silk tops and tailored wool blazers - and will be accompanied by shoes by New York designer Jenne O. The collection is "an eclectic mix between Dickensian London and Sixties musician and muse to Andy Warhol, Patti Smith" as mentioned by Vogue UK.

Beyonce to be the new face of Giorgio Armani's next women's fragrance

Beyonce, seen above in an Armani Prive Gown, is to be the new face of Giorgio Armani's next women's fragrance "Emporio Armani Diamonds" reported Women's Wear Daily. Maybe she will be singing "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" for the ads, due out next fall.

Beyonce has in the past been the face of Tommy Hilfiger's fragrances True Star and True Star Gold in 2004. How long do you think it will be before her fashion line "House of Dereon" comes out with it's own fragrance?

Lily Loves Dresses!

One of my favorite items to wear is a dress and I was psyched to hear about Lily Allen coming out with her new line of clothes for British High Street retailer New Look (launched on May 9th, 2007), since Lily always looks so cute in a frock!

Lily Loves collection features 6 colourful summer dresses including her favourite prom dresses as well as cool day dresses. Accessories are the Smile peep toe court shoes, Loz diamond patterned trainers, fun necklaces (my fave is the "wishbone" necklace, right scarves and earrings.

She does not disappoint, my dear and here is a look at some of the clothes she has come out with:

Latest Hollywood "it" Girls have been seen around town carrying the US $2675 price tagged Chanel 2.55 Handbag. It's a Chanel classic in patent calfskin, available in white, black or ruthenium metal. The iconic bag was first introduced by Coco Chanel in February 1955 (as in, 2.55). For Chanel fans and collectors out there, this is a must! My fave is the white one. Will someone please get me one? Pretty Please?

Remember Naomi Campbell had to perform community service recently for hitting an assistant on the head with a phone (I think it was a Blackberry). Of course, being Naomi, she had to dress in high fashion from head to toe every day that she had to perform the community service. Apparently Naomi kept a diary while she was performing community service and now, all the diary entries from that period and pictures have been published in the new issue of W magazine.

Here are some quotes from the magazine:

“I find solace in sweeping. I have no other responsibility. I have no phone. I have the time to think. Just have, you know, peace.”

I feel so sorry for Naomi, maybe her maid should let her sweep floors sometimes. Those maids!

“Two of the people in the room have never been on a plane. They ask me what it’s like, and I’m embarrassed to tell them I was on seven planes the week before alone. It’s so interesting to get to know so many different sorts of people.”

I guess this was taken before or after a day of community service - she looks glam there.

I think this is supposed to be Naomi distraught - Naomi crying(?) in what looks like a trailer. Maybe she was upset she no longer had to sweep.

I'm not so sure why I blogged about this now besides the fact that Naomi Campbell is a model and she is on the cover of one of fashion's great magazines. She still looks pretty great though in my opinion and I hope she has her anger issues under wraps so she can do what she does best, model. And whoever her new assistant, I wish her luck. Oh, the things we do to get a leg in the fashion industry.

Trend Watch: Trouser/ Wide Legged Jeans

Skinny jeans were everywhere since late 2005 and now I think the fashion world is actually coming back to boot cut and trouser wide leg jeans. Wide Leg jeans are comfortable, can carry you from day to night. They look tailored and streamlined and you don't have to really worry about having to be skinny to wear it.The celebs are already switching over from skinny to wide leg check out how great Angie Harmon, Sandra Bullock and Eva Mendes looks on the Red Carpet in Wide Leg Jeans:

At first I was confused by the outfit, and because I have never liked overalls, I thought a big "NO" but it sort of grew on me, y'all. I would never wear it but Cameron pulls it off really well.

Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Poiret: King of Fashion" Costume Institute Gala 2007

I love Costume galas. A chance to see my favourite leading ladies dress up and put forth their best. Here is a highlight of "best dressed" and the "what were they thinking?" pictures of all the lovely ladies in attendance.

I heart Cameron and she looks really great in that purple/fuschia dress:

Elegant as always, Miss Jennifer Lopez. I was going to post a picture of her posing on the red carpet with Marc Anthony but really, he looked like death warmed over, so I chose not to.

Rihanna!

The legendary Miss Anna Wintour. I dare not critique the queen of Vogue on her style, but I do wonder what she would look like with a different haircut. Imagine the "Rachael" on her. :)

And I pondered a while over Ashley Olsen's look but I think she looks pretty good over all in the Grecian inspired dress. She even walked the red carpet arms in arms with Christian Louboutin, so I am guessing he approved her attire and if Mr. Louboutin himself is ok with this look, I'm ok too.

I want to like Mary Kate Olsen's crazy looks, I do, but this furry ensemble?

I'm not sure what to say about Amanda's dress or the suit on the guy standing behind her. Maybe they have the same stylist?

Claire Danes's dress reminds me of Christmas wrapping paper. But I think you have got to give her props for trying though.

I'm a Chloe fan, really and I know that green is supposed to be in this season (as is yellow) but I do not comprehend this dress choice or the hair that is not done.

Winona Ryder. If she had taken off the bow off her shoulder and came in a strapless black gown, it wouldn't have been so bad. But I'm glad to see Winona attending events again.

Usually Kirsten Dunst looks really good at events but the photo below speaks for itself when I say that I gasped when I saw it. (eek!)

The event was to honour and celebrate the works of Paul Poiret, a Visionary Artist-Couturier of Early 20th Century. Here is some information on him.

Who wears short shorts?

First of all, darlings, I'm so sorry for my absence lately. I have been stranded on this little island called England and a tad too busy to blog. But now that I am back, let's get started on what has been hot in LONDON lately: Short Shorts! My goodness, the British lasses are brave souls. It would be 15 degrees Celsius outside and there are the beautiful lasses, out in shorts, pencil heels and ready to party. I could never brave the cold like that but now that Summer is here, I'm ready to show off the gams.

What has been especially hot has been the Turn-ups on the shorts. Let me show you a couple of examples:

River Island's Belted Hot pants. Great for a stroll down Oxford Street on Saturday or a night out in town on Friday.

Top Shop's denim "up turns". Wear it to the beach, wear it to the pool... wear it anywhere really.

White buckle trim turn up shorts by NEXT. This outfit screams casual Sunday.

If tres short shorts aren't your thing, then do not fret, now, there are Longer shorts for that evening look.

Walt Disney Co. is looking to grab a bigger piece of the wedding cake, and feed its burgeoning Princess business, with a new line of character-inspired bridal gowns aimed at women who want to look and feel like Cinderella at the ball on their big day. The Walt Disney Co. has teamed with bridal designer Kirstie Kelly to create a collection of gowns inspired by the favorite Disney princess characters, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Ariel from "The Little Mermaid," Belle from "Beauty and The Beast" and Jasmine from "Aladdin."

"We wanted women to feel like they had something in common with these princesses. We had to identify who the princesses are now and who does the everyday girl relate to," Kelly said. A mood and fashion sensibility was assigned to each princess-themed gown: Cinderella is for the classic glamour bride; Sleeping Beauty is about pretty romance; Snow White is sweet elegance; Ariel is sultry allure; Belle is stylish sophistication; and Jasmine is bohemian chic.

We're BACK!

A thousand apologies on the recent VF hiatus. The VF girls have been busy with love, work, exams, job interviews, London and mundane everyday commitments. Haha, excuses.

Kylie Minogue is the legs, oops, I mean face of the H&M beachwear line, 'H&M loves Kylie'. The limited edition collection boasts fifteen 'Kylie-inspired' styles. "H&M's main beachwear range pushes all the right trend buttons in a look that smacks of glam beach-life, where glinting silver and gold metallic play off graphic black and white animal prints, while sizzling hot hues of yellow, red and pink reflect the surfing influences", says the press release.

I've to say the campaign is very very well-executed and stunning. Enjoy.

Nude colors. Subdued styles. That pretty much sums of this year's Grammys.

She's your Dreamgirl. Beyonce wore a champagne-colored strapless dress by Giorgio Armani Prive with crystals on the bustline and waistline.

Ain't no other man, can't pull it off like Christina Aguilera! Christina Aguilera looks elegant in an Ungaro white strapless gown with purple trim around the bust and a beige ribbon around her waist.

I was never a fan of her style choices but this time, Vanessa Minnillo blew me away with this shimmery silver mini dress! It's uber-cute!

This is no family affair. Mary J. Blige looked classy in Michael Kors' nude-colored, V-neck beaded gown with a metallic belt. According to the star herself, "I had this plan for about three months. I walked into a Michael Kors store, and Michael Kors' mother was there, Joan Kors, and she was having a trunk show and there were models there. And I saw the dress and said put that dress on that model. The model was built and shaped like me. I said that's my Grammy dress. Put it on hold." So now you know.

Here's a secret: I am infatuated with Scarlett Johansson. Doesn't she look absolutely gorgeous as a Grammys presenter? She wore a navy-and-black cocktail dress with a fitted corset by Monique Lhuillier.

Nelly Furtado is one hot mama. She look fabulous in this itsy-bitsy white and gold cocktail gown by Roberto Cavalli although some fashion critics have said otherwise.

I love her songs but I'm not such a fan of her... err, individuality thing. Imogen Heap says, "A fabulous designer from Los Angeles got in touch with me via MySpace asking me if she could make my Grammy dress, and this is what happened." Haha, this woman has a sense of humour - that's how she earned the final spot on this Grammys entry.

No surpises at this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards. It's almost like a Golden Globes dejavu, haha. Here are the lovelies of the night:

Katherine Heigl looks stunning in this red number. The styling suits her beautifully. That night, she's a winner like her hit show, Grey's Anatomy.

Ellen Pompeo stands out with this gorgeous purplish, greyish dress with a little Rome-feel to it. I personally like it very much.

My supposed-lookalike, Rinko Kikuchi from the fame of 'Babel'. This tutu-like dress has a dark, goth underlying look yet she pulled it off in such a cutesy way. I've to root for my twin, no?

The newly single Reese Witherspoon looks amazing in this sparkly grey dress. This woman has never look any less stylish in her career.

She's no Desperate Housewife. She's in fact, the coolest mama around - Mary-Louise Parker looks like a female version of the Michelin man. Haha, okay, it's cute but I don't think it does any justice to her figure. She's a lovely woman and a wonderful actress. Just not crazy about the dress.

The Golden Couple! Demi Moore looks sensational in this blue hot dress! Her hair looks gorgeous and her makeup is flawless. She brought along her handsome accessory as well, Ashton Kutcher. Grins.

Diesel Spring/Summer 2007 Ads

I saw these beautifully shot Ad campaigns from Diesel in a magazine recently was in love with the concept. Now fabsugar.com has stated that this season they (Diesel) decided to take the social commentary angle. Shot by Terry Richardson, the ads feature everyday scenes that have been drastically altered due to rising temperatures and seas.

Diesel has always been pretty provocative in their ads and this time, it's no different. I applaud the direction to take these Ads to reflect on what is going on in Today's World. Of course, the juxtaposition of images - as in what seems to be New York City under siege of a flood, the Great Wall of China covered in Sand, makes for great photos and a sure distraction when one is bombarded with so many Ads in a magazine.

LG unveils Prada Mobile Phone

South Korea's LG Electronics has teamed up with Italy's high-end apparel and accessories manufacturer - PRADA - to produce an equally high-end phone.

PRADA's president and CEO Patrizio Bertelli announced that the two companies were looking to develop a "break-through."

Rather than adding the PRADA brand name to an existing product, Bertelli explained that the two companies worked together to give their new phone a "very strong character and unique style, both in its contents and in its design."

The PRADA Phone by LG plays music and videos on a wide, LCD touchscreen. It has a 2-megapixel camera, eight megabytes of internal memory. It has no keyboards and comes with a screen protector,and it's very own PRADA leather case holder.

I love the sleekness of the phone and the fact that it's rumored to be giving Apple's iPhone a run for their money.

The LG PRADA phone will retail at about 600 Euros and will be launched in Europe in Late Feburary 2007, in Korea in the second quarter of 2007, and all other Asian countries in late March 2007. No word yet on the launch in the United States as of yet.

Black Nail Polish: When Goth Goes Glam

Black is definitely back. For nails, at least. This might be a lil' outdated but hey, I just caught on to the black nail polish bug. I haven't sported black nails since my supposed emo rock days. Now, all the rage is for Chanel's limited edition Black Satin #219. However, this chic and sophistication beauty craze has gone a wee bit too far - prices have rocketed on eBay and there's even a waiting list for this cute bottle of black varnish. It's the hit sequel to Chanel's Vamp polish when Karl Lagerfield showed models sporting dark varnish in 1994.

NY Magazine has an interesting article about the Black Nail Polish: A Brief History. As a Chinese myself, I never knew black polish was meant for royalty back in the ol' days. Interesting piece of trivia.

This trend is definitely one of the biggest comebacks in 2006. And, it's gonna linger for a little while in Spring '07. I'm thrilled as black nails are no longer meant for goths and bad girls, but it's fabulous accessory that goes well with white frocks, tan skin, denim and the list goes on! Trend-setters like Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba were seen spotting with black nails (and even chipped ones - with Lindsay!).

Off The Rack also gives a few tipsters on 'How to Get Black Nails like Jessica'. Read on:

1. Black polish looks best on short, square nails. Go too long or too pointy, and you look more like Elvira than fashionista.

2. Chips in dark polish are much more apparent. A protective top coat will help keeping your digits look perfect.

3. To get the color consistent across your nail, try 2-3 coats over a good basecoat. One coat will end up looking too streaky.

4. If you don't feel like breaking the bank for the Chanel Black polish.

5. If black is a little too dramatic for you, try a dark red or a deep plum.

If Black is not your style, you can go for dark varnishes like Mischa and Jessica. They look fab and chic as well.

bebe names Rebecca Romijin as the new face

I think that bebe is definitely trying to rebrand their image,to cater to an older female demographic. They recently signed on Eva Longoria as the face of bebe sport and now they have switched to Rebecca Romijin to represent their label for Summer 2007, dropping Mischa Barton. I hope all of you got what you wanted for Christmas! A little mistletoe action perhaps? Now that your stomachs are slightly less full after the feasting and partying that was Christmas, it's time for another party, to bring in the New Year, of course! And I can tell that 2007 is going to be a great year because moi favorite number happens to be 9 and 2+0+0+7= 9! (A little numerology never hurt a fashionista.)

My 2007 fashion predictions:: Structured dresses with big belts will still rule well into the new year. Animal prints and floral prints- whimsical dresses will be a big hit in the new Spring and Summer collections. And no, leggings are not going to go anywhere unill you are ready to lounge at the beach for a tan and dahhling - big bags never go out of style because a girl's gotta have a big bag to carry everything she needs. You know what I mean, chicas.

Leaving my disappointment at not being able to get a tan aside, I have delved into ways to dress chic and gorgeous while trying to stay dry in this apparent monsoon season that has assaulted the tiny island where upon yours truly resides.

It's a Scarlett spring for Louis Vuitton next Spring '07. She's my favourite pin-up girl at the moment and I love the entire styling for this ad campaign. Scarlett absolutely work those curls! My Pick: Milla wins hands down! The fem-bot, Victoria can take the back seat. Then again, this look is can look nice both ways but Victoria Beckham is not cool in my book.

It's the hot look for new moms! Holmes went shopping in Beverly Hills in her belted YSL tunic and jeans, while Weisz paired hers with a gray flannel skirt for a screening at the Toronto Film Festival.

My Pick: This is a toughie. But I like Rachel Weisz's look better than Katie's. Classier and more refine.

LINDSAY VS. SIENNA VS. NICKY
The Bobby star dazzled in her flowered Pucci minidress for a night out in London, while the British actress took the spotlight at the line's show. And Hilton took to the red carpet in the popular dress in L.A in September.

My Pick: Ooh, I heart this dress! My vote goes to Sienna - love those stockings!

ROSARIO VS. IVANKA
The actress went for silver in her metallic J. Mendel stunner at the Costume Institute Gala in New York, while Ivanka trump tied hers on for an event at the Natural History Museum in New York City.

My Pick:It's a hot dress and I think Rosario looks better as her skin tone reflects beautifully with this dress!

My Pick:More Pucci dresses! I'm so into leggings now. So Lindsay Lohan wins this round.

I love the construction of this yellow dress and how the collar coils into a huge rosette at the bottom. That's innovation, baby.

We can't get enough of bubble dresses! This sea-blue bubble dress comes with a twist. It doesn't end at the bubble - ah, corny I know.

Doesn't it look like a dessert decor on her head? Well, I'm not a big fan of it but I think it's still quite amusing. The attention is drawn towards her head, not the dress unfortunately.

This dress feels very "summer" to me. But, it's all-year round summer for Singaporeans no? It looks flowy and comfortable. Not ground-breaking but nice.

I love this dress! Prolly my fave among the lot. The color combination is gorgeous and fits perfectly on the model.

The top is hot, the styling is strange. Haha, its like phantom of the "runway", if you ask me.

Sweet dress, not crazy about it though.

Brilliantly staged in the brand new Spitalfields Traders Market, the annual Swatch Alternative Fashion Week showcased the work of over 80 aspiring designers in March. Strutting down the catwalk, accompanied by live band The Fabric Four, the models showed a room of buyers, journalists and eager fashionistas that, with fresh talent, anything goes. Vogue caught up with some of the best-dressed onlookers to see what they thought.

Kate Moss is one of the most beautiful "IT" girl ever grace the fashion world. I used to envy her to bits when she was dating Johnny Depp back in the 90s. In fact, I secretly hated her for breaking up the "Winona & Johnny" dream team. Anyway, we grow up and move on. Despite the drug fiasco, Kate has scored herself a record of 18 ad campaigns - you go, girl! I mean you buy any fashion magazines and you're bound to catch her in 5 ads or more - ranging from Louis Vuitton, Long Champ, CK Jeans, David Yurman, Burberry, Versace, Bvlgari to Christian Dior and the list goes on.

Now, she will be designing her own range of chic clothing for Topshop which will be launched next Spring. “We wanted to work with Kate because she has style and she has taste. I think everyone knows this and I think most people think it’s a smart idea,” Topshop’s owner Phillip Green told FWD on Wednesday.

"I have always been a big fan of Topshop and regularly shop there. I love what they stand for and am very excited at the thought of working with them. It's going to be great fun," Moss said a statement. Kate has proved more influential than many designers today. What she is wearing often becomes a huge trend for girls in their teens and women in their twenties and fashion editors on both sides of the Atlantic have credited her with sparking the return to fashion of skinny jeans, mini-dresses and hot-pants.

You know what. I'm actually excited about being blown away by her collection. I admire her greatly (I even buy magazines because I see Kate on the cover. I love clutch bags. They're great when it's time to travel light especially for late night out with your gal pals or a hot date. There are so many clutch bags out there in the retail stores these days. Polka dots are nice but abit commercialized. That's the strange thing about S'pore fashion scene. Everyone wants to carry the same bag! We lack individuality here. I can't stress this even more, the Internet rocks. Go out there and find something truly "you" on cyberspace! Here are some ideas:

Congrats to the big winners of the 2006 58th Annual Emmy Awards especially ‘24’ and ‘The Office’! Must Tony Shalhoub win again? Most of the veteran actors are snatching the limelight from the TV newcomers. Also, it’s a pity that ‘Arrested Development’ didn’t manage charm the voters who favored the 41-year old virgin show. ANYWAY, this blog is about the thrills and spills at the red carpet. We see a lot of low necklines and halter tops dominating the red carpet – not to mention, Fall colours such as purple, red and white. The key word is metallic (didn’t I just blogged about that?).

This is my ultimate favorite dress for the night. Evangeline Lily, from ‘Lost’ in this sultry purple Versace dress with numerous criss-cross pleats. It’s simple yet maximizing the 2006 Fall trends. I love this dress to bits. And, purple rules the Emmys!

Nude is in! Katherine Heigl wore a beaded glamour gown in a nude color with an open neck and keyhole back by Escada. She looks so divine, huh?

Heidi Klum is pregs again! That woman is a baby making machine, dammit. She looks radiant in this red hot one-shoulder draped gown by Michael Kors.

I’ve to admit. Sandra Oh looks gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. She’s not the most ‘pretty’ Asian around but she certainly has style and of course, talent. I absolutely admire this Vera Wang asymmetrical light purple gown with a soft cascade of ruffles around the V neck that the actress offset with chunky, funky necklaces.

Cheryl Hines wore this interesting purple dress with an intricate beading art at the back. I just couldn’t help but post this picture! Isn’t it beautiful?

Kim Raver from the fame of ‘24’ wore a plunging V-neck halter gown with a jeweled waistband in pleated chiffon by Pamella Roland. The color is stunning, simply stunning.

Yesterday, I was window-shopping at Takashimaya and I came across this huge backdrop of the spanking brand new Pull and Bear boutique opening soon. Inspired by the spirit of youth, Pull and Bear adapts the youngster's needs and creates chic, casual laid-back clothing for the masses. Started by Inditex Group in 1991, this Portugese brand is set to woo the Singaporean market with their Fall 2006 collection. So, they say the 'Bubble' is the must-have in your fall collection. I've a sailboat bubble dress from Swirl which I totally heart! Now, here are some inspirations from the runway and how to make the 'Bubble' work for you:

The 'Bubble' from Aquascutum draws the modern British classic in striking lime green. This is what I call an attention grabber. Another perk about wearing the bubble is to hide that love handle!

Balenciaga truly defines the 'Bubble' and it looks like she's stuck in a cupcake skirt. The color is simply eye-catching. I love it!

Vera Wang creates soft flowy ruffles to soften the 'Bubble' and making it very wearable. The black and lilac color just looks great for Fall.

Donna Karan continues to wow us with this beautiful red 'Bubble' piece. Just a 'hint' and yet, it highlights the lady's curves. Nice!

Finally, this Bottega Veneta seamless 'Bubble' dress is innovative yet elegant. I even love the color although I'm not particularly a fan of nude colors. This is just gorgeous. I can't stop feelin' bubbly all over. Woot!

Quirky Inspirations

Hey. Hey. I'm back from a short hiatus (sorry guys). No more exams for the next 4 months (whooppee!)... also, work is gearing down at the moment. That means I've more time to blog, shop and get creative! Finally, I've some "time" to get online and start surfing the net for more goodies. Boy, I love the Internet. I must say, I've been missing out on some pretty funky stuff but hey, I'm slowly catching up.

As you know, I caught the jewelry making bug recently. I know many are getting their hands on jewelry making too, but not all are designers. I would like to call them "hobbyist". There's a difference between a designer and a hobbyist. Some copy from generic jewelry making books or magazines. Some just find unique charms and chain them together. Same goes with me. I've been learning from the web and books because I want to master the basics - beading, wirework and all. But now, I want to take a step further from my usual beads and baubles and go wild! In short, I'm not satisfied. I need to find my niche. I need to create something that I can truly call my own.

You know what I mean?

Call this post-exam blabbers. I've been doing some research to see what other designers have created. They have their own "branding" and more importantly, their unique selling point (USP) in their designs. I'm truly inspired by some of their works. They make me want to learn more and think different.

Here are my week's compilation of quirky inspirations:

The signature Flamingo earring hand-crafted from leather with Swaroski crystal on the ear wire. It only comes in one-piece so get ready for some Flamingo action! Definitely a stunner. The designer shows her love for "leather" in her Flamingo jewelry range. Nice.

A sexy red mouth smiles around your neck attached to two silver-plated chains which lock the necklace with a chunky boltring. The mouth and teeth are hand-cut from double-sided red and white leather. Also from Flamingo (who unfortunately, does not have an official website)

You certainly have no idea that this necklace is made of transistors, resistors and recycled steel wire collar. Now we know how to recycle our stupid malfunction PCs (and transform the bits into something chic). Totally original, I must say. I'm truly inspired. By (Wired).

This is called Daisy Stack. 6 rubber daisies joined with recycled stainless steel or alternator wire (burnt red) links. In my opinion, this is the goth-on-a-budget look that could sell millions.

Fake diamonds are a girl's best friend? Danielle Maveal creates a deeply etched, oxidized and matte for maximum contrast in sterling silver. This designer piece does speak volume.

This is prolly the most normal looking one but hey, it's a BEAUTY. The wire work is simply beautiful - just look at the branch work with the crystal clear teardrop bead, gold plated bee and carnelian. This beauty is created by Maria Carter.

Crocs Convert

VF is back and now, as Crocs converts! Yes, we're won over by that formerly known as "fugly rubber thing with holes" when Crocs presented their new range of Prima ballet slip-on pumps.

It's perfect for the rainy day (considering it has been raining religiously for the past few days, dammit). It is slim-fitted, ballet-inspired and V. COMFY. Your cheaper, rain-friendly alternative to the beloved Birkenstocks.
Apparently, Crocs are comfortable, cool and molds to foot. It has an orthotic foot bed, anti microbial and odor resistant - what is more versatile than that? Crocs Prima retails at $47.20. Shockingly, I've already gotten myself a pair of silver Primas. Sue me. HAHA.

VF's Beads & Baubles Madness

Yes, one craze led to another. From World Cup fanatic, I've progressed to bead junkie. I find myself twisting wire threads and weaving beads with nylon threads till wee hours almost everyday. My eyes! I'm still learning (Bless the Internet!) and here are some of the stuff I've made over the week.

This is a birthday present for my buddy, Reena. Happy 23rd Birthday, girl! I made this twice because I used the wrong type of thread the first round and everything startd to curl up but I'm quite pleased with the result. It's not perfect, but I think it's a great first attempt!

I made this today (yes, I'm working on a Saturday... zzz) at work. I absolutely like the geometric shape but I think I might have messed up the bead count. It doesn't look proportionate. It looks nice on my finger though.

I weaved this two days back. It was too big for my finger! Might just give it to my mum for her scarf or... napkin holder??

VF's Knick-Knacks of the Week

Smitten Kitten a.k.a. "Summer" and I went to shop for our knick-knacks at Arab St. over the weekend. Yesterday, i got home and started clasping jump rings and cutting wires till 12am. The result? I made a pair of earrings and a charm necklace last night - talk about crafty fun. Here are present to you my first charm necklace made by me called: "Leo"

The charms are white ceramic 'ghost' with gold leaves, ruby red crystal-glass drop, silver 'Leo' star charm, mushroom glass bead, red flower glass bead with gold leaves, blue/pink glass bead with blue/purple swarowski crystals. All from Quaintsecrets (note: website is not up yet).

The last time I wore an overall was when I was 12. Yes, a denim overalls from Sportsgirl. And, I honestly admit that I l-o-v-e wearing it back in those days because Alex Mack was always wearing an overall (and I secretly thought she was cool). Hey, I was only 12 and still watching Nickelodeon. Gimme a break. The point is dungarees and overalls are smashin' their way through the couture scene. As you know, they're not the most easiest or the prettiest thing to wear. Although, here are some "inspirations" from the runway and the indies after a touch of refinement and style:

Petrified Baggage petrifies with with its uber-cool original designs made by (get this) a 19-yr old Canadian girl who single-handedly design and hand-made all the bags. Launched in summer of '04, her site carries a limited range of purses, tote bags, messenger bags and even makeup pouches that are truly one-of-a-kind!

I particularly heart the Sweet Stuff Purse but unfortunately, the item has been sold out. Dang! So, put yourself on the mailing list and be the first to know when she restocks! Sigh, we just can't get enough of bags huh?
